What Lammis Vargas Stands For
I am running for re-election to the Rhode Island State Senate because the people of District 28 (Cranston and Providence) deserve continued strong, progressive leadership and a dedicated advocate who will fight to improve their quality of life. I remain committed to working on behalf of residents at the State House to expand access to quality healthcare, affordable housing, safe communities, environmental protections, public transit, and educational opportunities for all.
As your Senator, on the following issues I will:
Advocate for affordable housing and home ownership opportunities, and lead at the state level efforts to help homeowners combat increased flooding due to climate change.
I remain committed to advancing environmental justice and protecting the natural resources that make our communities strong. At the Senate level, I will continue advocating for corporate accountability, protecting the Pawtuxet River and Narragansett Bay, preserving public access of the Pawtuxet Trail, and fighting for stronger oversight and action to address hazardous air pollution affecting neighborhoods throughout our district. Every family deserves clean air, healthy neighborhoods, and a government that listens and acts.
Fight for equitable funding for our public schools, especially for students receiving special education services, while continuing to advocate for behavioral health supports, healthy school meals, and critical infrastructure investments in our schools. I will also continue to support and protect access to our public libraries, which provide vital access to literacy, technology, educational programs, and community resources for residents of all ages.
Advocate to improve the navigation of our health care system, work towards access to health care, and fight for equity and reproductive freedom.
Continue to support our small businesses, the backbone to our local economy, to thrive in our state.
Throughout my time in the senate I have and will continue to support and strengthen public transit, which many residents rely on to get to work, school, medical appointments, and essential services.
